Eddie Murphy Reveals He Turned Down This Huge Role And Admits He Regrets It

The actor revealed the role that he turned down and still regrets it to this day! While on The Tonight Show, chatting with host Jimmy Fallon, Eddie Murphy opened up about a number of topics, including about the one gig that got away.

Of course, it was because he turned it down but looking back, the actor obviously wishes he didn’t.

As it turns out, it was Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the groundbreaking animated 1988 film.

The reveal started with the host asking Eddie to confirm the rumors that Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis really wanted him in the 1984 Ghostbusters!

‘Yes, because I did ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ he dished before he went on to say that ‘It was not like I turned it down, in as much as I was not available because I did another movie. The only movie I have turned down and which became a big hit was ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’…I was going to be Bob Hoskins. I was like, ‘what? Animation and people sounds like bulls**t to me.’ Now every time I see it, I feel like an idiot.’

While there’s no need to be this harsh on himself, he is definitely not wrong about the huge success of the movie.

The live-action-animated hybrid production won no less than 3 Academy Awards for its visual and sound effects, all groundbreaking at the time it came out.

Furthermore, the public really enjoyed it as well, as proven by the more than $329 million it made at the box office.
